THE PACK HAS REOPENED. GO DOWN AND READ THE LAST TWO POSTS RIGHT NOW. LIKE REALLY. RIGHT NOW.

Welcome to Visitors

Greetings. I am Clawface, the Alpha of these parts. I can see you're unfamiliar with my territory, yes? Come along. You'll find something similar to hospitality inside our camp, though not for more than a night or two or you'll start getting dirty looks. Our pack is among the largest and strongest of packs. We are not your average softhearted puppy-pets, as are many of our... ahem... cousins, but rather stonehearted warriors who do not and will not hesitate to defend each other at the cost of our lives. It would be a good idea for you to keep your intentions and destinations to yourself. More than one of us is suspicious of any and all strangers. So go ahead and take a look around. Grab a bite to eat when the crabbier packmates, including myself, aren't watching, take a swim at the falls... whatever, for all I care. Just don't be here tomorrow unless you want to join us! We'll see about that.

Romeo's Duties

Finish your Border Patrol and report back to me in the Alpha's Den.

((... I'd also like for the person who roleplays as Romeo to make your activity known - otherwise you will be taken from your position. I can't have inactive Betas, now can I?))

Sky's Duties

Relieved from duties, for the moment.

(( Kudos to you, Alado/Pebble, for being one of the only people still active here XD ))

Amber's Duties

Relieved from duties for the moment.

((Until your roleplayer shows me he/she is active!))

Nursery

Den
This is where Queens and Pups sleep.

  1. Gentleheart poked her nose into the Nursery. She saw Honey, her friend Angel's pup, curled up all alone. "Where's Angel?" Gentleheart asked.

Honey felt a pang of relief at a familiar face. "She's at the Big Rocks with Skeet," she whimpered.

Gentleheart curled up around Honey, keeping both of them warm. "I'll stay with you until she comes back," she promised.

  2. Gentleheart suddenly had an idea. "Let's go salmon hunting!" she announced. "I know that's for your mentor to decide, but I could show you."

"Really?" squeaked Honey. Anything to get her mind off of her missing mother.

The two of them bounded away.

  3. Hunter crashed into the nursery after Clawface, getting a mouthful of bedding "Muffflubb!" he sprang back up, bits of hay and feathers sticking in his ears.
Olive laughed and nudged him aside, so the other pups could get by.
Thistle nodded approvingly to his new den, then with a giant plop he flopped down into a nest, making a shower of feathers and hay.
Mallorie caught up by instints, lept at a feather, grabbing it in her front paws. Blinking rapidly she bowed her head in embarresment.
Olive looked up to Clawface "Are you still grumpy? Or are you going to tell us a story?"

  4. Clawface flicked her ears in amusement.
She tilted her head slightly at Mallorie, noting the unusual agility that this pup displayed.
She chuckled. "As for my being 'grumpy', that's for you to decide. But I can tell you one thing." She paused to nod toward a large pile of boulders across the clearing that formed a small cave. "Song is the best storyteller around here. She sleeps in that cave there, if you'd like to meet her."

((Song would be the one and only elder. XD
You're having fun playing this trio of pups, aren't you? :P ))

    ReplyDelete
  5. ((Yeaaaah! I LOVE playing pups, the more the more destruction they can cause! LOL))

Olive snorted "But we want you to tell us a story!"
"Yeah! Like where did you get your scar?" Hunter bounced up, showering Mallorie with more hay.
Mallorie sneezed and looked up to Clawface "Yeah! And How did you get Moonpack?"
Thistle lay watching his siblings bounced up ad around Clawface. He shook his head and curled up into a tight and white fluffy ball, his eyes drooping.
Alaska slipped into the nursery, shooting another look at Clawface before she layed down by Thistle, laying her tail across his back.

  6. Clawface sighed, exasperated. "Okay, fine. You wanna know where the scar came from, okay. Gather round."

((I gotta grab a document and get writing! :P I'll have something by today or tomorrow. XD I don't think you were around when I posted my last plot post....beware of my lingual habit of putting things into detail. XD I'll get to it!))

  7. Hunter circled Clawface eagerly, snuggling against her leg. He looked up in anticipation
Olive snuggled onto Clawfaces other leg, also looking up.
Mallorie layed down by her personal cushion, Thistle. Burying deep into his white fur she peeked at Clawface.
Thistle snored quietly, quickly waking up once Mallorie prodded them on the side.

(( Okay LOL, I've been reading around! Your a great writer! ))

    ReplyDelete
  8. ((ROTFLOL, thanks. XD
Well, I've got something started, but it's not finished yet. I'll keep working on it and then post it piece by piece so the pups can ask questions and do whatever. XD ))

Clawface sighed and stretched her paws out in front of her. "You four may as well know, this is the first time I’ve told a story. Usually the elders do that, so I’m rather rusty, but I’ll do my best." She settled into a reclining position, her paws extended out in front of her and crossed slightly.
"So you want to hear about my scar…..that’s going back quite a few seasons, but I still remember it clear as day....."

    ReplyDelete
  9. "How many seasons?" Mallorie called softly from over by Thistle.
Hunter nodded to Clawface eagerly "We want every detail!"

((okay! LOL, Ill make sure they ask questions!))

    ReplyDelete
  10. ((XD Well now, this is a bit different than what I'm used to. Putting a story in quotation marks shakes things up a bit. XD ))

“I don’t know, around twelve seasons I think." Clawface shrugged.
Well, I used to be of a different pack. Long ago there were far fewer packs than there are now, and most of the land was unclaimed for territory. It all stretched on for miles, and we could roam freely without fear of being driven off by a rival pack. Things have changed since then, but that was the way of life.”
“The Alpha of my old pack was named Spearfang. He was a proud, strong, brave wolf. ....He was also my mentor. He drilled me, taught me, punished me, and did everything in his power to turn me, a rather naïve apprentice, into a fierce warrior. This he did, quite thoroughly. I became a well-respected Guard known as Claw.”
“After a while, the Gamma at that time died of Greencough. Spearfang was more than happy to promote me to the position. Eventually, I became the Beta of the pack.”
“But, although there was no fear of trespassing on other pack’s territories, in that time there was one other threat that was much bigger.”

((Oh yes......'Gamma' is what we call the 'head of the guards' rank. :P ))

    ReplyDelete
  11. ((Oooh, okay!))

"What was the packs name? We did say that we wanted every detail!" Olive pipped up from under Clawfaces chin where she had gotten comfy.
"What was the threat?" Thistle called in his strange voice, too deep for a pups', voice.
"When did you add the 'face' part to your name?" Hunter took up the last question when the more 'popular questions had been taken.
Alaska perked up too, closing both of her eyes to get a good mental picture, she, unlike many wolves, was still a puppy at heart.

    ReplyDelete
  12. “The pack really didn't have an official name....we often called ourselves Ironshod warriors."
Clawface nodded to Thistle to show him she had heard.
"Well, that threat was Twolegs. Back then, Twolegs tramped across the land, claimed or not, day after day. They carried weapons: large sticks that they would aim at an animal. The stick would make a terrible bang, and whatever unlucky victim it happened to be pointed at would just drop dead.”
“Rarely did they hunt wolves. They usually went after deer, rabbits, and the like. However, my pack did lose a few good members to Twolegs. Starpack knows what the Twolegs did with our dead packmates, but we never saw them again.”

    ReplyDelete
  13. Aurora padded into the den. She chuckle as she saw the the pups gathered around Clawface. "Clawface, I didn't know you moved to the elders den" She laughed teasingly. She settled down in her nest a tail-length away from Clawface.

    ReplyDelete
  14. All pups gasped and Mallorie snuggled closer to Thistle.
"So then what happened?" prompted Hunter, snuggling closer to Clawface.
"What about the scar??" Olive whined prodding at Clawfaces' face.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Clawface lifted her head above the pups to look at Aurora. "They insisted....." Her voice held a spark of jestful indignance.
She caste her gaze around the four pups again. "My scar is in the story, be patient."
“Well, there were other problems besides Twolegs, of course, as there are with any pack thriving in the harsh conditions of the wild. Prey was getting harder to find in the winter, and the threat of an enemy pack or rogues always hung over our heads."
"But I had my own problems. Many of my packmates weren’t convinced of my ability to lead. The rumor was that I had become Beta only by favoritism from Spearfang. I was determined to prove my being worthy of the position, and I decided to take a daring move which I now still debate with myself as to whether it was foolish, brave, or just flat out stupid.”

((Lol! Every time I typoed out 'pups' I accidentally typed out 'pops' at first. XD Wow. Nice typing skills, BB. XD ))

    ReplyDelete
  16. ((Haha that would be very funny if it were 'pops' LOL))

"Why did you have to prove anything to them!?" Hunter growled pawing at Clawfaces paws. "You were Beta! What could they do about it?"
"What'd ya do?" Olive pipped up.
"Is it scary?" Mallorie said barely visible from the fluffy flap of fur named Thistle.
Thistle shrugged and let his eyes droop, picture what Clawface was saying in his head.

    ReplyDelete
  17. ((POPS!!!))

"Packs were different then," Clawface said darkly. "It was more fight than peace. Hardly anyone ever bothered to negotiate, and they would battle out their differences. Often, two would fight for a position, a mate, or even a piece of prey." She shook her head and continued on.
“I decided to get close to the Twolegs. Eavesdrop. Spy on them. Get inside knowledge on what their plans were, if they had any; most seemed to enjoy their reckless killing just for the sheer fun of it. No reason, really. I wasn’t sure if I would be able to get anything particularly useful when I couldn’t understand their language, but I could certainly try. And what an opportunity it was. There was one particular hunting spot by the lake which Twolegs seemed to enjoy most, and which wolves were strictly ordered to avoid. Of course, that was where I headed.”

  18. Aurora licked her two pups.

Huit yawned, showing tiny white teeth. He blinked his eyes open. They were like his fathers but with a hint of violet like his mothers. He looked around resting his gaze on his sister. He prodded her with a paw. "Rain?" He murmured.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Rain shuffled her paws slightly and flicked open her eyes. "I'm awake."

    ReplyDelete
  20. "Wanna go find Comet?" His pup-fluffy tail wagged, "He might show us some hunting moves" He jumped up at the thought.

"Now don't go pestering your father Huit" Aurora licked in between his ears.

"We won't!" Huit barked happily, "Come on Rain" He prodded her again.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Rain stretched her small paws out in front of her until they quivered, and sighed "Oh all right. Let's go." This said, she heaved herself up, wavered slightly on oversized, unsteady paws, and wagged her tail.

  23. Hunters focus was drawn away by the other pups, wagging his tail slightly wanting to join.
Olive prodded Hunter in the back then looked back to Clawface.
"But then what ha-happened?" Mallorie's shaky bark sounded and her brown ears peered out of Thistle, he tail wagging in fear.

    ReplyDelete
  24. “I placed myself among the brambles and ferns at the side of the path. I knew that Twolegs had absolutely no sense of smell, and if I kept quiet and remained invisible they wouldn’t sense my presence until it was far too late.”
“So there I waited. Plotting. Strategizing. Working out every little detail in my mind. I could follow them to their meeting place, wherever that was, and watch their activity.”
“I must have been there for hours, but soon one came by and I slipped silently after him. He entered one of the strange dens that they had set up and I didn’t catch sight of him for a while after that. So I waited in the shadows. Soon dusk settled on the clearing, and a few of the Twolegs built fires. Why they did that, I didn’t know, but I began to wonder whether these Twolegs were even sane. Nevertheless, I waited. “
“The night dragged on, and I found myself at a dead end. I hadn’t expected to be in that sort of situation. It hadn’t taken me long to learn that their language was just impossible to understand.”
“So, with a heavy heart, I started back. There was a small crowd of Twolegs blocking the path I had taken to get there, so I made a detour. That was where my real trouble first began.”

    ReplyDelete
  25. "Wait. . . . .Why are you going to the Twolegs? What if they hit you with the long brown sticks?" Hunter looked at Clawfaces pelt for evidence that she had, had a wound.
"You learner their language?!" Mallorie jumped up landing on top of Thistles back.
Thistle grunted and pawed at Mallorie until she fell in a great lump of fur on the floor.
    Olive whined impatiently "Go on!"

    ReplyDelete
  26. "I wasn't exactly going to them," Clawface replied. "I was trying to get around them. And as for their language, I had figured out a few words. What they called trees, for instance. But that was all, nothing more."
She stretched her paws out in front of her.
"Well, I tried to get around them." She paused. "...I failed."

    ReplyDelete
  27. "Keep going!" Hunter, Olive, Thistle and even quite Mallorie growled in their squeaky voices.

    ReplyDelete
  28. “I was still hidden among the trees. I needed to get away or risk being stuck here all night, and then facing a lecture from Spearflight when I got back. I aimed to the right of the Twolegs’ group in an attempt to avoid them completely. Unfortunately, I was so tense that I didn’t even notice the burrow of rabbits right in front of me, and they fled in terror……..and one of the Twolegs heard it. Suddenly they were all coming for me. I tried to run, but I ran almost face-first into a thicket of brambles. The thorns snagged my fur, clawed at my face……..and I couldn’t get away. I was half stuck in a patch of spiky plants, and I had nowhere to run. They must have had a difficult time spotting me because they weren’t there as fast as I would have expected, but my eyes gave me away. From a distance, I watched in helpless terror as one of them aimed his stick at me. There was a bang. I felt something lodge into my side……..and everything just faded to black.”
    Clawface grew quiet.

    ReplyDelete
  29. "Did you die?!" Mallorie squeaked in fear.
"How did it feel like to die?" Olive pipped up.
"If you died why are you still alive?" Hunter growled eying Clawface doubtingly.
"Are you a ghost!?" Mallorie and Thistle jumped back in fear.
Alaska smiled in her 'sleep' and ruffled her ears around, wanting to hear Clawfaces anwser.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Clawface chuckled. "No, I didn't die, so I'm no ghost." Her voice turned grave. "Though in the days to come I often wished I had." She shook her head and continued with her story.
“When I awoke - in a very abrupt manner like you would wake from a nightmare, which assured me that I wasn't dead - I was in a cage. A wooden cage. It was plenty big, but there was a dark and forlorn shadow hanging over it that told me I shouldn’t have been there. Sitting up, I realized that I was not the only canine present. In front of me sat row upon row of cages identical to mine, each holding a miserable inhabitant. However, I noticed I was the only wolf present. The others were dogs, some thick and muscular, others leaner and a few more of the puppy-pet type.”

  31. (FluteGirl)

"A ca-ge?" Hunter tested the word, it felt funny on his lips.
"Is that like a den?" Olive wondered, settinling back into Clawface's fur.
"Why did they trap you?" Thistle murmured.
"Did you get to talk to the other dogs and puppy-pets?" Mallorie idly wondered out-loud.
"What about you pack-mates?" Olive added.

    ReplyDelete
  32. "Sort of like a den. But the sides have holes in them, and the entrance can be closed up so that you're trapped inside, like I was."
“I tried to pry some information out of those on either side of me, but they refused to say anything, other than growling angrily at me. Instead, I found out where I was by a much harder way. After about an hour of being stuck there, a tall Twoleg with huge forepaws entered the space between the two rows of cages. He held a thick, polished stick, and proceeded to beat the cages with it, making a most loud and unpleasant rattling sound. Almost immediately, the other dogs in the room burst into a peal of frantic barking and snarling. I’d never heard anything like it, and I still haven’t, not even in battle. It was an almost insane barking, as if someone had triggered something in their minds that erased all consciousness.”

    ReplyDelete
  33. (FluteGirl, ugh she needs to find her password quick!)

Hunter and Olive shivered, eyes growing wide as they pressed into Clawface.
Mallorie gasped, her ears tucking in on themselves as she pictured the frantic look and sound of the barking of the other dogs.
Thistle, snorted seemingly uninterested. His tail shivered, and he quickly tucked it under him.
"D-did the Twoleg go to you?" Hunter finally said after looking around the den as if a Twoleg would pop out.
"What was the stick for? Did it hurt?" Olive said shakily.
"W-what happened to the other wolves? Wh-where are t-th-they n-now?" Mallorie said her tail shaking one hundred miles an hour, making her whole frame shake.
Alaska popped open one eye and glared at Clawface, this story was for entertainment! Not to give the pups nightmares!

    ReplyDelete
  34. ((Lol yes she does...))

Clawface caught the look from Alaska and set her jaw slightly. “Well…..” She took a slight breath.
“He did bang on my cage with the stick. Of course it angered, frightened, and irritated me, and I flattened my ears and snarled at him. For some reason, that seemed to please him.” She hesitated for a moment. “The next thing I knew, he had opened the cage and gotten ahold of me and had me in a headlock. I struggled and bit at him, and he finally let me go. He thrust me into some sort of round clearing. I’ll never forget it as long as I live…the ground was covered in little wooden shavings. It had high walls, and there didn’t seem to be any way to get out, aside from the way I had come in which was now barred, and another gate, also barred. But the most terrifying thing was all the Twolegs, sitting above the walls and watching. Watching, watching, some laughing, some in fierce debate with each other, but all watching me. I pressed against the wall, terrified. But none of them came for me. Something else did….” She paused briefly. “They let in a dog from the other gate."

    ReplyDelete
  35. (Back! Found my Password!)

"A round clearing?" Hunter mumbled in dis-belief "Two-legs are so weird"
Olive nodded quickly, tail thumping on the ground in time with her nodding.
Mallorie blinked confused "Another dog? What for? Was it another ca-ge?"
Thistle grunted worriedly, he had a sense of where this was going and didn't want Mallorie to have any nightmares.
Alaska looked to tense to pass of sleep. She might have to end the story soon, her pups didn't been these images in their heads.

    ReplyDelete
  36. "Twolegs are weird," Clawface agreed. "Too weird to understand."
She shook her head, glancing at Alaska again. “The second the dog laid eyes on me, it lunged for me. There immediately went up a roar from the Twolegs watching. I twisted and easily dodged the creature’s attack; it had absolutely no training. But it was big. Very big, not much less than twice as big as me.
I had no choice but to fight……the thing was mindless. I don’t think it even knew what it was doing as it attacked me. But I had to fight for my life. And I did.” She gave the fur around her neck a brisk shake. “That’s where I got this old scar…..it had pretty big paws…” She blinked once, sending the memory of the battle away. “Well, in the end, I beat the huge canine. Had him by the scruff, pinned to the ground. He was humiliated, and angry. But he couldn't get up." She chuckled.
"Some of the Twolegs watching seemed happy, some seemed furious, but for the life of me I don’t know why. I was soon back in my cage, and I realized that these fights were the sort of thing that happened every day. I had to escape, and escape I did.”

    ReplyDelete
  37. Huit wriggled into the nursery beside Hunter. "Hows the story going?" He whispered, not wanting to interupt Clawface.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Cora and Karma squeezed in beside Thistle. Theor tails wagged in unison.

    ReplyDelete
  39. (Its FluteGirl! lol, just using Willows account. (It was faster lol))

"Shhhh!" Hunter shushed, pawing is paws over Huits mouth.
Olive blinked at Huit, Cora, and Karma ten looked back at Clawface "How did you escape??"
Thistle grunted in greeting and rolled over to give them more room.
Mallorie whimpered, her fur standing up when the other pups squirmed into place.

    ReplyDelete
  40. “I started to knaw at a rotten piece of wood in my cage. It hurt, it took me all night, and I’m sure I splintered at least one tooth, but in the end I succeeded. The opening was tiny, but back then I didn’t have as much muscle and I just wasn’t as big as I am now, and I squeezed through. I was free – in a row of viscous dogs all wanting to eat me. I pounded down the isle, running for my life. Frantic barking started, and I knew I had to act fast. The den the cages were in was very holey and insecure, and save for the Twolegs that started after me, I got out easily.” She chuckled. “You should have seen them, clomping around the way they did. Even Song could have outrun them.”
