This river runs through Moonpack territory and tumbles over a ledge into a waterfall. It is overrun with salmon during Newleaf and very early Greenleaf, and presents a temptingly juicy place to find prey. Beware, though. The river narrows into a rather deep gorge near the middle, and poses a threat to any wolf who might accidentally slide in.
She races in and splashes into the river, easily resisting the flow. Amber then starts rampaging through her jaws snapping in hope of catching a fish but she wasn't really trying, just having fun and waiting for Sky.

ReplyDeleteGentleheart led Honey through the water until they reached a small bend. "Look here, now," she told her friend's Pup. "If you stand here, the salmon will run right towards you." She demonstrated and quickly caught a fat salmon.
"Cool!" Honey wagged her tail and bounded in the water. A baby salmon swam slowly through the water.
"Now!" cried Gentleheart. Her heart swelled with pride when Honey scrambled up the bank, her mouth full. "Well done!"
He jumped back as water splashed him. "Bleh!" He tried to clean the water from his pelt. "Hmm..." He shrugged. I will get wet anyways! He bounded into the deepest part of the river and paddled threw.

She bounded ahead to what she thought was the river. "If this isn't the river, then i'm not a wolf!" She laughed and splashed threw the shallow part of the river as she saw Sky and Amber together. Im happy for him. Im glad he has someone. She watched her friend for a minute longer and waited for Thunder to show her the shallow part for 'beginners' as he called it.

"Hey Alado! Over here!" he called to a small section of river that was cut off to make a small clear pool. "See its not that bad, the middle will probably go over your shoulders." he waded in "C'mon! Not scared are you?"

Gentleheart led Honey up the bank. The two of them crouched over the salmon, and then Gentleheart saw Sky, Thunder and Alado. She nudged the larger salmon towards them.

Sky looked over to Gentleheart. "Maybe! I will see if I can catch one myself first! If I can't which I won't be able to because i'm such a bad hunter then yes!" He laughed.

"Do ya know how to swim?" he said paddling around the tiny pool hradly big enough for both of them. He smiled and swam circles.

She smiled. "Yes I do. Well a bit." She swam to the deepest part of the pool and ducked under coming back a few seconds late with a small fish in her jaws. "Do you want some?" She swam towards Thunder and dropped the dead fish infront of him.

"Great!" he climbed up a short rock that jutted out into the river. "In coming!" he yelled running and flying into the air. He plunged into the deepest part of the river. He kicked out strongly paddling underwater for a bit, flaunting his talent of holding his breath. Finally his head bobbed up and he paddled to the shallow parts giving his pelt a good shake, looking quite like a sodden squirrel.

"Thunder?" She called as she seen him dive under the water and not come up for some time. "Oh! That's cool!" She laughed. "Trying to impress?" She teased and launched herself off of the rock and diving into the cool water. She was underneath to cool blanket and paddeling underneath and soon came up beside Thunder. "That was fun!" She laughed again and shook her pelt.

Amber smiled up to Sky and lookss back down to the river as something big catches her eye, it was a large cat-fish and on impulse snaped at it, to her surprise she caught it hauling it up as it thrashed around trying to get back into the river.

Skeet skidded to a halt flicking his tail to the river. "Ladies first!"
ReplyDeleteTwister trotted up behind him.
ReplyDelete"You got it!" She made a quick jump, purposefully splaying out her legs so she would make a nice smack on the water, and splashed in. The water sprayed everywhere - a bit showered onto Skeet. Laughing, Twister lifted her chin slightly and dogpaddled as the water flowed around her. "Your turn!"
Skeet shrugged off the water, letting it drip down his chin and tail. "Your doing to wish you didn't say that!" he growled playfully bounding down a small rock jutting out of the water. With a couple of quick steps he leap out his damped fur streaming behind him. He curled into a ball mid-air and SPLASH he landed in the water with a giant wave of water that reached up and surged around Twister.
ReplyDelete"?!?!?" Twister was bowled under the water for a moment. Suddenly she refurfaced, hacking water. Her ears, weighed down with all the water, flopped into her face.
ReplyDeleteShe made a note to herself to try jumping like that next time.
"Raar!" She cackled, still coughing up a bit of water. She gave her ears a shake, sending them out of her face, only to have them fall back again.
"Hah!" Skeet howled with laughter "You look like a sodden rabbit!" he paddled over to her giving a quick lick to her ear. Skeet quickly plunged back under the water swimming under the water.

Suddenly a fish smacked into her face.

Skeet re-surfaced "Hah! Why didn't you catch it, it was right their IN your face!" he fell backwards laughing and howling. Then couched at choked as water filled his mouth.

ReplyDeleteThe water was starting to chill her a bit. Soon the sun would be setting, and being wet during the rather cool night wasn't a nice thought.
Twister started for the bank.
"Leaving so soon?" Skeet yipped plunging into another wave, paddled around Twister always out of reach.

Amber smiled at sky and sliped into the water feeling the dirt and grime fall away.

ReplyDeleteTwister did her best to keep her heart in a relatively normal shape as it melted again. She too sat up, stretching her body upwards and tilting her head so that her nose pointed at the sky. It felt good to stretch in that odd position.

Skeet ears flicked towards the sound but he didn't take his eyes off the weird expression Twister seemed to have "Um, er, prey?"

ReplyDeleteSkeet looked at the bush and narrowed his eyes "Can't you hear that?"
ReplyDelete"Hear what?" Twister tilted her head slightly at him. Suddenly one of the bushes at the egde eof the clearing moved violently.
ReplyDelete"YIPE!" Twister positively jumped at least three tail-lengths in the air. She pressed close to Skeet, quivering slightly. "WHAT WAS THAT?!?!?"
Skeets eyes widened and he stepped back "I don't know. . . ." he murmured his eyes wandering to his pelt where it touched hers then back to the bush. "Let go!" he stepped back two pawsteps not taking his eyes off of the bush.
ReplyDeleteThe bush rustled again, and a pair of dark, malicious eyes gleamed from it's branches. There was a low, grating, rasping sound, as if it was a growl from a creature that hadn't had anything to drink in a moon.

"HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT'S GONNA EAT US ALLLLLL!!!!!!!!!! MAYDAY! MAYDAY! LET'S ALL DANCE AROUD THE MAAAAYPOLE!!!!!!"
Still yowling nonsense at the top of her lungs, she glanced over her shoulder once to see if Skeet would follow.
Skeet jumped back "Clam down Twister!" he growled. He turned tail and fled after her then an idea occurred to him.
ReplyDelete"Don't lead it to camp! Even if it doesn't follow us, it might sent for us later! Head to the swamp!" he growled, knowing this wasn't the best plan.
Twister didn't give any evidence that she heard him, except for the fact that she made a sharp turn and headed directly for the swamp.
ReplyDeleteStarting to feel a bit more relaxed now that the evil thing in the bush was far away, she slowed her pace and glanced back at Skeet, She suddenly realized what exactly had just happened, and what she had just done, and started feeling like an absolute idiot.

Skeet felt relaxed also as he skidded to a stop by an old and muddy tree. Panting heavily, he flicked a glob of mud off of one of his paws.

Skeet laughed, a deep bass. "Sure sure you can!" he laughed again, a low rumble this time. "Lets hunt around for a bit, then we can head over their. Sound like a plan?" he asked, tongue lolling out of his mouth.
ReplyDelete"A pretty loose plan, but it'll do anyway," Twister giggled. Suddenly she piped, in a slightly hushed voice, "Squirrel!" and darted away into the undergrowth.
ReplyDeleteSkeet rolled his eyes as he watched her disappear into the brambles. What have I gotten myself into he almost growled out-loud. Then a slow smile spread across this face.

With a last chuckle he set after Twister. "Hey! Did you get it?"
The bushes rustled suddenly, and Twister emerged from them, head held high as she proudly carried a pair of squirrels by their tails.

"Wow, that was quick!" Skeet looked at the two squirrels while his belly snarled in hunger. "You eat first, you caught them"
ReplyDeleteTwister dropped the squirrels at her paws. "I'm a hunter, genius. This is what I do!" She grinned. "One squirrel is good for me, you can hork down the other one."
ReplyDelete"And hork I will!" Skeet grumbled taking a giant bite of squirrel, still thinking deeply. He sat down then soon slid down until he was laying down on his belly.

ReplyDelete"Nothing that you need to know of!" Skeet said cheekily. "Well, actually, I was just thinking about Rouge and Moonshine and Clawface and. . .you I guess" he added the last part nonchalantly.
ReplyDelete"Mmm..." Twister replied thoughtfully. Then she giggled. "Rogue and Clawface. Ha!"
ReplyDeleteShe flicked one ear. "Moonshine's certainly an interesting character, huh?"
"Yeah, I guess. . . ." Skeet murmured, his eyes still blank.
ReplyDelete"Anyways anything else you want to do?" he shook his head, dazed.

ReplyDeleteTwister shrugged. "I dunno..." She grinned suddenly. "Race you back to camp!" With this said, she took off into the trees.
"Hey! Wait up!" Skeet mock-growled as he started off towards her. Heart thumping un-evenly, he was soon tired out. "Wait up! Twist-" he wheezed "-er!"

ReplyDeleteShe glanced back over her shoulder. "You all right?"
"Fine, just tired. I've been chasing you around all day!" Skeet wheezed again.
ReplyDelete"Good point." Twister stopped completely. "Okay, I'll give it a rest if it makes you any happier."
ReplyDeleteSkeet blew past her, surprised with her sudden stop. In a few heart-beats he trotted back slowly to where she stood. "Thanks!" he coughed.
