Your first encounter with the Moonpack...

It seems to have darkened ever since you entered the wood. Slivers of moonlight cut through the branches above you every so often, but other than that all is in twilight.
You walk silently, as the only thing under your paws is pine needles, but you feel like you're being watched. The trees move every now and then, even if there's no wind, and once you thought you saw a pair of yellow eyes, staring at you through the gloom. But then they were gone, and you thought perhaps it was just an illusion.
You come to a large, thick pine tree. You start to go around it, but you're startled by a voice.
"Come no further."
You nearly jump three feet in the air, but then, soundlessly, a she-wolf slips around the tree. She has a thick, blue-gray coat and strong hardened muscles. Her yellow eyes blaze with some kind of strong emotion. Power? Strength? ....Rage? A scar slashes it's way over one of these eyes.
"I don't know who you are, or where you come from, and I don't care. You're in Moonpack now, and I own these parts."
Looking around, you realize you're surrounded.

Rules
1. BE AWARE. If, without warning, you have not posted or otherwise been active (chatbox counts) in three weeks, I will not move your wolf to the elders den. I will delete him/her. I don't like to do it, but it's for the better. However, if you return I will be happy to re-add your wolves. Also, try to post (chatbox does not count) at least once a week. That's important. I'll get ticked with you if you don't.

2. If you say anything mean, rude, or disgusting about other people here, I will kick you out immediately without warning or given reason. No ifs, ands, or buts.

3. You are free to have as many characters as you want. But you have to play them. Don't create a character just to make a character. Don't get in over your head. There isn't really a limit or deadline for this, but I don't want inactive wolves that never do anything!

4. If and when you're making a (new) character, be sure to check the list of members at the side of the page. I continually keep this updated and organized. If you see that there are way more males than she-wolves, or Guards than Hunters, ect., try to help balance this out. The pack needs all the different wolves. Also, check to see if a name you're using hasn't already been taken.

About The Ranks
Alpha: The Alpha of Moonpack is the head of all that goes on. He/she leads pack meetings, appoints mentors over apprentices, and leads the pack on in its struggle for survival. Alphas are given a certain number of extra lives depending on how old they are, how worthy they are to be in their position, and the season and conditions of the forest at the time of their advancing rank. This is done so that the Alpha can live long enough to pass on his qualities and knowledge to the Beta so later the pack can continue with a strong new leader. The disposition of the Alpha has a large effect over how the rest of the pack operates and behaves, which is why it is important for a pack to have a worthy Alpha.

Beta: These wolves are second-in-command in the pack. They are the next in line to become the Alpha when the current Alpha dies, which makes choosing the right Beta vital to the cooperation of the pack. Betas oversee the hunting and border patrols of the pack, and stand in place for the Alpha at pack meetings and gatherings when he is sick or otherwise unavailible. There is also a risk involved when becoming a Beta, however. After the Alpha, the Beta is in the front lines during fights, and is often the target of enemies. While being a Beta means you may become Alpha one day, it also means you could lose your life sooner.

Gamma: The Gamma is the head of the Guards. They organize border patrols and take over when the Alpha and Beta are otherwise engaged. Only Guards can become Gammas, and often a wolf will become a Gamma before ranking Beta. Gammas are highly respected wolves, and they are chosen to their position by strength, courage, and leadership abilities.

Delta: A Delta could also be called the head of the Hunters. Deltas are extremely fast, clever, and swift, and they know how to use these abilities to their advantage. Only a Hunter can become a Delta. If one becomes a Delta, usually this position lasts till death, unless disloyalty becomes an issue. Very rarely do Deltas ever make it to the 'Beta' rank, for they are set on a different path by Starpack.

Medic: Medics could perhaps be called the most vital member of a pack. They are wise, knowledgable and humble wolves who treat the injuries and sicknesses of their packmates. Along with being familiar with herbs, Medics are the wolves most closely connected with Starpack than any of the others. They usually receive the signs and prophecies form Starpack, and are relied on to interpret them by the entire pack. A wolf destined to become a medic is often drawn to the medicine den from a young age. These pups are specially called by Starpack to serve their pack in a way unlike any other.

Guards: Guards are the muscle of the pack. They are specially trained in fighting and combat, and provide protection for the pups, queens, elders, and the hunters.  Guards have to be brave, determined, and strong to be respected. Usually at least two accompany a hunting patrol in case an unexpected danger or battle should come their way. Most Betas are first Guards before they are chosen as next in line to be Alpha.

Hunters: Hunters provide the fuel to keep the pack going. They may not be particularly strong, but they are swift, silent and agile. They know where the best places for prey are, and they have extremely good hearing and smell. They are taught fighting as well as hunting techniques, although they rarely will have to use them. Upon returning from a hunting patrol, Hunters are given the task to feed the pups, queens and elders first before the Guards, Alpha, Beta and themselves.

Apprentices: These are the younger generation of a pack. They are in the process of being trained by their mentors to become either a Hunter, Guard, or a Medic, whichever Starpack had called them to be. A pup must be at least five moons old to become an apprentice.

Omega: The Omega is the low-life of the pack. There can only be one Omega in a pack - the lowest wolf of all. Omegas are weaklings with a faulty personality and undeveloped strength. They aren't really useful for much, as they are too weak and fearful to be a Guard, too slow to be a Hunter, and not mentally strong enough to handle the responsibilities of a Medic, Beta or Alpha. Rarely does a wolf start out as an Omega, but over time as his/her character is revealed, he becomes less and less respected until its finally obvious that the he isn't useful for anything. Many outcasts from a pack used to be Omegas. It is a dreaded rank in more ways than one; not only does it mean spending one's life in disgrace, but once one is in, it's nearly impossible to get back out. The children of Omegas are also looked down upon, if one ever does manage to find a mate.
